Become a Member of Gainesville Hackerspace

Start your journey to member

Membership Dues:

  • Student Member – $35/month
  • Maker – $50/month
  • Maker Plus One – $50/month for the first member, plus $35/month for each additional member in the same household
  • Patron Maker –$100/month For those that have the means and want to give a little more each month

Step 1: Attend an Open House

Come visit us during any Tuesday Open House from 7 PM to 9 PM. Meet our members, share your interests, and get to know the community. Attending at least one Open House is required so members can get to know you before voting on your application.

Step 2: Read the Rules

Review our  Bylaws and Policy Documents.. to understand how our organization operates and what is expected of all members

.Step 3: Submit Your Application

After attending an Open House, complete your membership application. The Secretary will notify you once your name has been added to the ballot for the next monthly member meeting.

Step 4: Member Vote

At the next Monthly Member Meeting, existing members will vote on your application. If accepted—congratulations! You’re now officially a member.

Step 5: Get Access

Once your application is approved and dues are confirmed paid, a Board Member will issue your RF ID card These give you access to the facilities and tools. Training is required to use the tools .

Step 6: Start Creating!

You’re now ready to build, learn, and collaborate in an awesome community of makers.


Member Benefits

As a member of Gainesville Hackerspace, you’ll enjoy:

  • 24/7 access to both locations:
    • West Shop: Electronics benches, 3D printers, laser cutter, classroom/meeting space, light machining tools, and more.
    • Industrial Shop: Mills, lathes, forges, welders, sandblasters, and other heavy equipment. (subject to training requirements)

  • Use of all community tools and equipment (subject to training requirements)
  • Free or discounted admission to workshops and events (excluding material costs)

Member Responsibilities

To remain a member in good standing, you must:

  • Abide by our bylaws and membership agreement
  • Pay dues on time, in full
  • Clean up your work area before leaving
  • Attend meetings regularly and participate in the community
  • Supervise and escort any guests you bring
  • Vote in elections and decisions when possible
  • Help with general lab cleaning and maintenance
  • Most importantly: Be excellent to each other
